Learning Log for January 6th 2012

What we did

On Friday our humanities class was in the library. During the first 30 minutes, we finished critiquing our learning log posts that we left off yesterday. Ms.Lees mentioned that the point was to discuss the part that was good and the parts that needs to improve on in groups of two or three, and not critique your own by yourself.

After everyone hand in their sheets we went and sat with our novel group. We had to discuss three webs some other people did and write the negatives and the positives of it.

Why we did it

The purpose of critiquing our blog is to improve on the quality of it, set a goal for ourselves and try to accomplish it in the month of January.

In humanities we are trying to work on oral communication, which is why we are discussing in groups rather than on our own. The learning intention of discussing webs in our novel group was to give ideas and again practice our oral communication skills. Another purpose is to listen to other people’s ideas and it might answer your question. Also it would help when we are doing a web for our novel, which is starting soon.

Reflections/Connections

I think I know some of my problems in writing blogs, and I will try to change my bad habits and try to improve on my weaker parts. I know the purpose of working on our oral communication skills, but I need to speak up more in group discussions, and share my ideas with other group members. So I guess I’m a little bit muddy?

Whether you’re at school or outside working you will always need to look back at your work and critique it to make it better. It is very important to know how to communicate with others, no matter where you are. When you’re doing projects or at work you also need to give ideas and strong reasons to support it.

Homework

Finish assigned novels by Monday.

Tips

If you’re already done the novel, review it so if you forgot what it’s about you can recall your memory.

Dylan will be posting Monday’s learning log

Sorry if my post was late, I was kind of busy.
