What We Did
Today for first block we talked about what to do during a power outage, so we get an idea on whether the school is open or not the best choice is to listen to the radio.
Next we did our landforms map of South America from geography that a lot of people didn’t finish.
Later Ms. Lees showed us some examples of blogs and comments, and how to be supportive, and comment in a nice tone. Also we should try different things on the blog.
While the people that came on Tuesday work on the descriptive paragraph exercise one and two, the people that weren’t here played “catch up” with Ms. Lees and went over the narrative paragraphs again.
Why We Did It
The learning intention of explain and discussing what to do during a power outage was to let students know what to do to check if the school is open. So there won’t be a lot of questions and people will show up and won’t be a lot of absents.
Doing the South America map was to help with labeling and follow directions also learn different vocabularies.
Ms. Lees showed us some examples to us, so that we get an idea on what the others were doing. She also showed the classmates our blog because we were kind of arguing, so she taught us how we should comment and say things in a nice tone also be supportive.
Going over the narrative paragraph again, so that we are all on the same page. We are learning paragraphs so that we can write strong ones, it will be very useful throughout your life.
Connection /Reflection
When there is a power outage or a big snow we should all listen to radio that do we have class or do our parents have to work.
The land form map of South America could be used to everywhere and maybe we will have to work in South America.
The narrative and descriptive paragraphs could be used in an essay when we apply for a job or school. It could also be a job for someone if they want to be a writer.
I know I should listen to the radio when there is a power outage or any emergency that school may be close. I know how South America looks like and it has many kind of land like rivers plateaus isthmus peninsula and capes. I understand what is the different between narrative and descriptive paragraphs and hoe to write them.
Homework
For homework we have exercise 1 and 2 for the descriptive paragraph. Exercise 1 is to pick a sentence and write four or five descriptive sentence to support it. For exercise 2 write a descriptive paragraph using the topic given or the ones on your heart map.
